Taste and appearance
Telmo Rodriguez spent his childhood on his father's Rioja winery Remelluri, studied biology in Bilbao, completed his oenology diploma in Bordeaux and learned the art of winemaking from, among others, the legendary Bruno Prats at Château Cos d'Estournel.
In 1994, he launched what is perhaps the most innovative and ambitious project in recent Spanish winemaking history: he began producing the very best possible wines in different regions of Spain. He travels constantly with his team of Bordeaux-trained oenologists, in collaboration with other winemakers.

The aim is to highlight the regionally typical grape varieties and characteristics of the individual wines. So far, wines have been produced in the DO regions of Alicante, Cigales, Malaga, Navarra, Ribera del Duero, Rioja, Rueda, and Toro.
Sensors
The glass shines with a deep ruby red color and slightly purple reflections.
On the palate, it presents intense fruit of ripe cherry, a touch of sweet mulberry and gentle roasted aromas.
On the palate, the ripe fruit aromas are accompanied by vanilla, chocolate, licorice and violets.
Herbs such as rosemary and lavender are also clearly noticeable.
We are dealing here with a dense and characterful Rioja.
The long maturation process beautifully integrates the tannins and makes the acidity barely noticeable.
Nevertheless, this magnificent red wine also shows its fresh side and doesn't seem too heavy... An all-around elegant wine for very special moments.
Serving suggestion
The Marques de Riscal Gran Reserva goes wonderfully with braised meat, goulash, stews, grilled red meat or a Mediterranean antipasti platter.
This red wine should be served at a temperature of 16 to 18 degrees.
