The El Nido 2021 is an impressive red wine from the Jumilla region of Spain, made from 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Monastrell . The grapes come from old vines that yield a small but high-quality harvest.
Colour: Deep cherry red, almost black, with high colour density and dense tears.
Bouquet: Expressive aromas of ripe black berries, accompanied by notes of spices, balsamic vinegar, roasted aromas, chocolate, and a hint of leather and undergrowth. Elegant, toasted, and creamy nuances complete the aromatic profile.
Palate: Powerful, velvety and intense with rich fruit. The tannins are round, ripe and well integrated, resulting in a long and pleasant finish with good persistence.
The 2021 vintage received excellent reviews, including 94 points from Robert Parker , who highlighted the wine's freshness and balance despite an alcohol content of 16%. Other tasting notes also emphasize its delicate structure, herbal aromas, and subtle minerality.
The grapes are harvested by hand and transported to the winery in small crates to prevent damage. After maceration, fermentation takes place in small stainless steel tanks and barrels. The wine then matures for 24 months in French and American oak barrels , which gives it depth and complexity.
The El Nido 2021 should be served at 16–18 °C . It is recommended to open and taste it about an hour before drinking to decide whether decanting is necessary.
