Description

Malleolus Sancho Martin 2018

STORY
Named in honor of Pago de Sanchomartín, a 1-hectare vineyard, grafted with vines from the clone of the family's oldest vineyards. Tannic wines with pronounced acidity.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE HARVEST
The 2018 growing season began with exceptionally rainy April and May, which led to a slight delay in bud break. During the summer months, rainfall was below historical levels, helping to balance the vine's growth cycle. Temperatures were very close to the usual range for the area, except during the final ripening phase, when they were above average, resulting in optimal ripeness and excellent balance in the grapes.
Elaboration
Alcoholic fermentation and maceration took place over 28 days in small stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine was then aged in new French oak barrels.
TASTING ANALYSIS
Cherry-red in color with garnet edges. On the nose, the richness of nuances is immediately apparent, developing further during the tasting. Aromatically, it is a wine with great varietal character, yet imbued with the personality of limestone soils. The spicy notes from aging are subtly blended, enriching the overall impression. On the palate, it displays great volume and balance with intense sensations that echo those perceived on the nose. The finish is long and lingering.
