Description

Clio el Nido

Clio is an intense, powerful red wine from the renowned Jumilla wine region in southeastern Spain. Produced by Bodegas El Nido , this wine represents the perfect balance between tradition and modernity.

Grape varieties

70% Monastrell (the typical grape variety of the Jumilla region, known for its strong and aromatic wines).

30% Cabernet Sauvignon (provides structure and elegance).

Vineyards and production

The grapes come from old, low-yielding vines that grow on barren soils and provide concentrated, expressive aromas.

Hand-harvesting and careful selection of the grapes guarantee the highest quality.

The wine matures for 24 months in new French and American oak barrels , which gives it additional complexity and finesse.

Tasting notes

Colour: Deep ruby red with violet reflections, almost opaque.

Aroma: An intense bouquet of ripe black fruits (blackberries, black cherries) combined with notes of cocoa, vanilla, roasted aromas, and sweet spices. Subtle balsamic nuances and a hint of licorice round out the aroma.

Taste: Full-bodied, velvety, and concentrated. The soft tannins are perfectly integrated and harmonize with the juicy fruit and oak notes. The finish is long and impressive, with a fine balance of freshness and opulence.

Recommendations

Serving temperature: 16–18 °C.

Food pairing: Ideal with hearty dishes such as grilled meat, game, braised lamb dishes or mature cheese.

Special feature

The Clio 2021 is a wine for connoisseurs and collectors, distinguished by its exceptional depth and complexity. It can be enjoyed young, but will develop further nuances over the next 10–15 years.

This wine is an outstanding example of the quality and character of the Jumilla region and offers an impressive drinking experience.
