The Pittacum Mencía 2019 is an elegant and complex red wine from the renowned Spanish wine region of Bierzo . Made from 100% Mencía grapes from vines over 50 years old , this wine impresses with its depth, structure, and subtle spiciness.
On the nose : Intense aromas of ripe red and black fruits such as cherries, blackberries and plums, complemented by subtle spicy notes , violets and a hint of mineral freshness.
On the palate : Full-bodied and balanced with a beautiful combination of juicy fruit, silky tannins , and well-integrated acidity. A subtle hint of vanilla, cocoa, and herbs adds further complexity.
Finish : Long-lasting with an elegant structure and a subtle smoky note.
The grapes come from carefully selected plots with barren slate and clay soils , which give the wine its typical minerality.
After fermentation, the wine matures for 8 months in French oak barrels to further refine its aromas.
