Gago 2019 Selection Telmo Rodriguez

The Gago 2019 from Telmo Rodríguez is a complex and expressive red wine from the Toro region of Spain. Made from the Tinta de Toro grape, a local variant of Tempranillo, the grapes come from old vines, some up to 40 years old, which are deeply rooted and therefore deliver rich, concentrated aromas.

The wine presents itself in the glass with a deep, dark, almost opaque cherry-red color. On the nose, intense aromas of ripe red fruits such as cherries and raspberries unfold, accompanied by subtle notes of spices, herbs, and a hint of toasted oak.

On the palate, the 2019 Gago is powerful and full-bodied, with a fresh and clean texture that beautifully showcases its fruitiness. The well-integrated tannins and mineral nuances lend the wine impressive structure and balance. Fourteen months of aging in French oak barrels add further complexity and depth, resulting in a long and concentrated finish.
